                      Oceanwise is very concious of the need to protect the environment during our expeditions. It is important that all of our customers follow the philosophy of 'take only photos and leave only footprints'. This includes not collecting souvenirs such as shells or coral, zero waste into the marine environment and it is also important to avoid touching or stepping on the reef as it is easily damaged.

                      In particular there are specific guidelines for the whale shark interaction which are designed to enhance satisfaction and safety whilst protecting the whale shark. The following behaviours are prohibited for snokellers during the whale shark interaction:

                      - Attempting to touch or ride on a whale shark;

                      - Restricting the normal movement or behaviour of the shark;

                      - Approaching closer than 3 metres from the head or body and 4 metres from the tail;

                      - Undertaking flash photography;

                      - Using motorised propulsion aids and scuba diving equipment;

                      - Exceeding 10 people in the water at any one time around the whale shark.
